What is Freesat?

Freesat is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV. The service provides a number of TV and radio channels that you can get without subscription
Separate from Sky's satellite TV offering, Freesat launched on the 6th May 2008, and offers over 130 TV channels.
As well as a box, you'll need to have a satellite dish pointing in the general direction of the Astra satellite. Some High Definition content is available, including the BBC and ITV HD service.

What's on Freesat?
Around 130 channels of TV and 30 radio stations, with no subscription. Channels include Channel 4, E4, More 4, Five, ITV2, ITV3, BBC3, BBC News, CBBC and CiTV.
Other channels include Film 4, True Movies, Movies4Men, Euronews, Men & Motors, Wedding TV, Chart Show TV and Al-Jazeera.
HD: Freesat is also offering HD content. At launch, it was only the BBC HD service, but ITV's HD service launched in June 2008, Channel 4 HD isn't currently available to Freesat customers we are expecting at least two more hd channels shortly.
HD Recordable satellite Freesat requires NO monthly subscription, charges or contract to receive the fantastic FREE channels on offer! All that is required is the installation of a new Freesat digital satellite system, which is a 'one-off' cost'. Aerialmen can supply and install Freesat SD, Freesat HD and Freesat systems. Furthermore, you will be able to record entire series on a Freesat TV channel of your choice, and record other programmes whilst you are not home. The Freesat+ satellite receiver will have plenty of available space ensuring you can maximise your TV viewing experience with the programmes you want to watch!
With Freesat+, you no longer require VHS tapes or recordable DVD's, as all your programming is stored directly onto the integrated hard disk drive on the Freesat satellite receiver, so you can watch any of your recorded television programmes, when you want to. The 320 or 500 GB hard drive stores around 80 or 120 hours of free HD programming!
